Chief physician (m/w/d)
The position
For this established Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, we are recruiting a permanent Chief Physician / Department Head (Chefarzt) as part of a retirement succession. The unit operates 30 beds - 22 general pediatric and eight neonatal - and forms a Level 2 Perinatal Center featuring four mechanical ventilation stations in cooperation with the Department of Obstetrics, alongside covering consultative services for three neighboring maternity centers. The department annually treats over 1,600 inpatients, approximately 2,500 specialized outpatient cases, and around 2,000 emergency admissions. Clinical key areas comprise Neuropediatrics (including EEG diagnostics, epilepsy management, and intrathecal baclofen pump therapy), Gastroenterology and Pulmology (both with endoscopy), Allergology, Diagnostic Ultrasound including Echocardiography, an interdisciplinary Child Protection Unit, and Pediatric Psychosomatics. Extensive training authorizations exist (60 months General Pediatrics, 12 months Neonatology, 24 months Pediatric Gastroenterology). An affiliated outpatient medical center (MVZ) provides specialized consultations in Diabetology, Gastroenterology, Pulmology, Allergology, and Neuropediatrics. Requirements include extensive senior leadership experience and ideally subspecialty certification in Neonatology.
- Board certification in Pediatrics (Facharztanerkennung Kinder- und Jugendmedizin) with extensive senior management experience (e.g., as Leading Senior Physician or Chief Physician).
- Subspecialty certification in Neonatology (Neonatologie) is highly desirable.
- Executive physician with comprehensive clinical expertise across general and specialized pediatrics, strong strategic drive to direct MVZ services, and dedication to resident medical education.
